MSB {7}: Preparing for Mass with a Tornado

Check out Rosie’s place for more My Sunday Best.

MSB 7

First off, can someone please tell me how Moe knows how to pose, but I don’t?!?!

Secondly, can someone please give me a tutorial on posing?

Today saw the same outfit mostly, as all the other Sundays.  But- – I got a new sweater during a super Lands’ End sale!

For a few weeks we’ve been splitting up for Mass, so I was nervous about getting back on the “going to Mass as a family” horse.  It sounds lovely, but in reality it’s just hard at this stage with Moe.

Actually, maybe it’s good?  I spend a lot of time praying, “Lord, give me strength,” when at Mass with Moe.   Does that mean he inspires constant prayer?  Could that be a good thing?   Hmmm…

Anyway, here’s what we did to prepare this week:

-Focused on having a stress-free, lighthearted morning.
-Read the Gospel for the day ahead of time and a kids’ devotional to go with it.
-Came up with a pew seating arrangement.
-Gave everyone a pep talk with clear expectations.

Then at Mass, David was on Bea duty, and I was in charge of Moe the tornado.

The chewbeads necklace came through again.   They kept Moe busy for a bit.  He also read one of the Bible picture books we bring to church.  Today might have been Moe’s best Mass behavior ever.  He actually sang along here and there!

Honestly, I felt like a million bucks after Mass.  I’m sweaty from holding Moe, but happy.  Next week will be completely different, but today was awesome.

OK I totally spend more time in *actual* prayer when I have kids at Mass than when I’m alone! It’s the constant prayers for patience 😉 Plus I’m more focused, because I’m trying to help the kids pay attention, so I pay better attention! Mostly. I’m rather prone to a wandering mind…

I’m embarrassed to admit how hard it is to stay awake at Mass without the kiddos… 🙂

I get really sleepy at mass without children too! Also, I’m totally with you on the mass seating arrangement. Its essential.

I guess I can trade never sitting by my husband at Mass for an increased chance of surviving without any tantrums. 🙂

Cute sweater- Lands’ End has great sales! And, haha, I love how seating arrangements are *needed* when you’re at mass with kids!
