MSB {1}: Lands’ End Love

Thanks, Rosie, for hosting the link up My Sunday Best!  This is my first time participating.  🙂

My Sunday Best Vol. 1

I had Cee take this picture as we were walking out the door to Mass, with instructions to make sure my feet and head were in the shot.  My head was in the shot…but it was awkward…so I cropped my whole head out.  Because that’s not weird at all.  My feet didn’t make it into the shot.  We only had one chance…and this was what we got.

I love, love, love the fit and flare dresses from Lands’ End.  You know it’s a classic because each year they release a few colors in this exact same style.  This blue one is sleeveless, and I had my sister shorten the straps a little so it wasn’t so low cut.  If I was going to create a daily uniform for myself, I’d choose this dress in various colors.  It’s not terrible to nurse in.  And it works for pregnancy, too, because of the flare.  The combination makes this the holy grail of dresses.

The turquise elbow sleeve cardigan was bought for a wedding a few years ago from Dress Barn.

The MVP of Mass today?  My Chewbeads necklace, which made it possible to survive mass.  Not because it was keeping Bea busy.  Nope.  Because it was keeping Moe busy.  Moe.  The three-year-old?  Yes.  It was probably revolting for the people behind us to watch him gnawing, but it kept him quiet and still.  I’d call that a success.

You can’t see my feet, because cameras are hard.  But here’s the story behind what you can’t see.

I’ve been wearing these crocs everywhere, from the park to church for years.

They are okay-ish comfortable, but not very supportive or dressy.  Their best features: they can be hosed off and slip on quickly.  How perfect for my career as a farmhand/firefighter stay-at-home mom!  I have worn them so much that the tread has worn off, and they are stretched out.  This is a dangerous combination for someone who is already on the klutzy spectrum.  In trying to not “just get by” with the clothes I wear anymore, I splurged on new church shoes from Lands’ End, like these below except in tan.

Last week was the first time I wore them to Mass.  Aside from the time I was standing in the back bouncing Bea and did a halfway trip-catch myself thing, they aren’t bad at all.  After I was sure that I wasn’t falling, I did the sneaky “look around to see if anyone else saw” thing and noticed the choir director turn his head quickly to avoid making eye contact.  But beyond him and God, I think my ineptitude at slight-wedge-heel walking  is still mostly a secret.  These shoes make me feel fancy.

In my mind, that’s what Rosie’s getting at with My Sunday Best – – – doing what we can to make Sunday special, even in the little things like what we wear.
Dressy OutfitTune in next week to see either The Same Exact Outfit (as previously seen at Cee’s First Communion) or
The Same Outfit in Different Colors (as previously seen at Bea’s Baptism).
Thanks, Lands’ End for your comfy dresses!

Those Lands’ End shoes look perfect!…for heel type shoes, which I am not too fond of for the same reason you mentioned in your post “This is a dangerous combination for someone who is already on the klutzy spectrum”. I couldn’t have said it better myself! And cute dress! I am all for buying more than one of something in different colors…

Love that dress on you! I might have to check out the other colors. Nursing friendly dresses are always a win.

Right?!? It’s happened a couple times that I put on a dress to go somewhere and then realized while we were out that it was going to be impossible to nurse without getting all PG-13 in public.

This makes me want to check out those dresses!!! And I love cardigans. I love fall and winter and spring because I love cardigans. I love cardigans so much I should’ve been a librarian.

(I don’t actually do Twitter (do Twitter? Tweet? Whatev. I’m old.) But I do say “hashtag” in front of things as if I was cool enough to do Twitter. #twitterfaker)

Every so often Lands’ End runs a 30% off everything sale, and that’s when to pounce if you’re interested in trying a dress for yourself. 🙂

Those colors are so perfect together! I love how you mixed the bright shades of blue & coral 🙂 And I love the shoes! Wedges are my go-to for dress shoes (well, right now I’m stuck with sandals because I don’t want to mess up my back when my ligaments are all weird and loose) – you’ll get used to them soon! Thanks for linking up 🙂
