We’re taking some time to explore SchoolhouseTeachers.com with our Ultimate PreK-12 Annual Membership as part of the Homeschool Review Crew.

Watching a science experiment from the Video Library

It’s hard to describe exactly what SchoolhouseTeachers.com is. Offering complete curriculum for all grades Pre-K through high school, the website includes lesson plans, supplements, videos, and support for any homeschooling family. All resources are online, consisting of both online and printable content, and one Ultimate Annual Membership allows instant access to everything.

There’s the option to build your own curriculum by choosing core classes and/or electives, or the ability to look over the Scope and Sequence and follow a recommended path for each grade.

There are courses for every grade and subject, preschool through high school. It is possible to use SchoolhouseTeachers.com as a sole source for all homeschool materials, to pick and choose a few courses, or to use it solely to supplement other content.

Courses

For the extensive collection of courses for many, many subjects at every grade level, all necessary resources (lesson plans, worksheets, videos, etc.) are included. Beyond all lesson plans, videos, and worksheets, there’s also a suggested time frame in which to complete the material.

We already have classes figured out for the year, but I like to use SchoolhouseTeachers.com to supplement what we’re doing.

For example, I was looking for extra comma practice, so I chose and printed just a review sheet on commas. I started by clicking on the Daily Grammar course.

After clicking the course, I was able to select my student’s grade.

Then there was the option to download everything to complete as a full-year course, or the ability to cherry pick topics.

I cherry-picked a review page on commas, printed it out, and was all set. Quick. Easy. Exactly what we needed.

Lesson Plans

Each course has a lesson plan option with ideas for how to cover the material as well as printable forms for parents to list the specific weekly schedule they will use. It’s a handy feature for parents who like to see the big picture of how topics will be covered as well as how those topics play out over the course of the year.

Video Library

SchoolhouseTeachers.com includes a collection of Bible-based and educational videos. From preschool cartoons all the way to high school content, the video library features a variety of content without the commercials or questionable content that often appears on other video platforms.

We’ve enjoyed science and history programs in the Video Library.

Literacy Center

Parents new to homeschooling often worry about being able to teach their children to read. SchoolhouseTeachers.com offers downloadable, printable, books for children at every stage of the beginning reading game, all the way through fourth grade.

The most exciting tool of the literacy center, though is the breakdown of skills that pre-readers, emerging readers, early readers, etc. should have.

By clicking on a particular skill, parents can access a list of resources to help ensure their child can develop that skill. This takes the guess work out of teaching a child to read for parents who want a little extra hand-holding along the way.

Look at the fun Chutes and Ladders-esque game to help learn the CVC pattern!

Could I make this? Sure. But I really appreciate that I don’t have to! I can just choose a skill and print off a coordinating game or activity.

Conclusion

Ultimately, SchoolhouseTeachers.com is very flexible. It would be possible to use it as a one-stop shop for a family’s complete homeschool curriculum. It’s also possible to use it as an easy-to-navigate, free-from-questionable-content resource to supplement an existing plan.

We started using SchoolhouseTeachers.com last year, but I continue to find new ways that this super-resource can make homeschooling more efficient for our family!

    Hey Alicia,

With our youngest, Dominic, we are hoping to eventually pull him out of regular school (he’s in 1st grade now) and homeschool him. With him being on the autism spectrum, I’m thinking that a more video based curriculum will appeal to him as he’s so visual. Can you tell me how much of the curriculum for schoolhouse teachers is online and how much needs to be printed out to use? Maybe it depends on the subject? Thank you! God bless! Erin
