Moving
To recap, David’s job got transferred about two hours away, so we sold our house (closing in a few weeks!) and continue to try to find a new home.
We took the seats out of our big bus-of-a-van and started hauling. We’ve done a lot of donating and loading up a storage unit. It’s only the tip of the iceberg, but at least we’ve made some progress.
One of the activities I’ve come across in my weeding/sorting/packing involved having the kids write a letter to Jesus. One of the kids latched on to the idea.
“Wouldn’t it be cool if you could really send letters to heaven?” this kid asked.
“Well, you kind of can.” I replied. “That’s what prayers are. Like unwritten letters to heaven.” I could see the wheels turning in this kid’s mind.
Pretty soon that same kiddo shared a letter.
Dear Jesus,
You know me. I am (Full Formal Name). Would you please help my family find a new house? Please?
Love,
(Full Formal Name)
No one is really excited about the thought of being homeless for months until the right house comes up. No one is really digging this whole “spend all your time packing and cleaning” thing either. It’s a tough time all around.
In between the packing, we check Zillow obsessively, watching for something that will work. We’ve done quite a few video tours, and David has done some in-person tours. It’s exhausting to drive two hours to see a house and come back disappointed.
So we declared today a rest day. Lots of re-charging our batteries and spending time together before the pressure resumes as the next wave of stress hits. David is making homemade pizza with the kids while I spend a few minutes typity-typing.
We used to make homemade pizza every week thanks to our bread machine, but since it broke we haven’t tried to find a new recipe. After pizza we’ll watch some Science Max videos as a family. Tonight we’ll try to go for a walk and play some games. It all feels very luxurious after the rush-rush-rushing we’ve been doing.
Cancer
My dad’s situation is stable– that means no new cancer. We keep praying that the t-cells will keep breaking down the bad guys. For now, we’ll take stable.
School
We’ve taken a break to accommodate the showing, inspection, and such. The local public schools are done for the summer, but we’ll keep doing school until we’ve finished our workbooks. The big girls have finished their language arts, but we’re still going to continue working in the other subjects.
The Virus
We continue to be pretty strict with contact with the wider world, but we’re glad that things are opening up for everyone else! Cee’s last infusion a few days ago was uneventful, though sending her to the hospital still worries me.
What else needs an update? That’s all I can fit in as the pizza process finishes up. Sometime this weekend I’d like to take the kids to the cemetery in honor of Memorial Day; we’ll see if the weather cooperates. Otherwise our only plan is to get back to the business of moving.
Hope you get some time to enjoy the weekend!

Will Cee still be getting her infusions at the hospital or somewhere else?? Sure hope I get to see her still.

For now we plan to commute every four weeks for her infusion. That’s one less change we have to orchestrate!

Praying for you all for strength and perseverance, and for many little graces and blessings to sweeten each day. Praying especially for finding the right new home thru the intercession of Our Lady and St. Joseph. God is good and He knows what’s He’s doing!
