1. An Extreme Makeover

Bea was beyond excited to find this wig in a friend’s costume box.  It was fun that the color of the wig matched her own hair so closely!  Let’s do the math.  Bea’s hair is approximately 3 inches long, and she is 3 years old.  Assuming continued growth of 1 inch per year, she will be approximately 30 before her hair actually grows that long.  Too bad, because she loved the way it felt on her back when she swished her head from side to side.

2. The Question Jar

I wrote an eBook to help busy families connect every day (with pretty much no effort or planning).  I’m still researching ways to release it.  So.  Stay tuned!

3.  Pressing Postal Questions

/

This week we took a riveting tour of a local post office with a few homeschooling friends.  We got to go behind the scenes and see just how the mail works.  When we got home, were disappointed that we didn’t think to ask three very important questions while we were there.  If you have a postal connection, maybe you can help answer the kids’ burning questions:

1.  Can you mail a person or other live animal?
2.  How many stamps would it take to mail a person, let’s say about Moe’s size?
3.  What’s the most unusual item someone has wanted to mail?

The highlight of the tour for me was the “Days since last accident” bulletin board in the employee area.  Zero.  The answer was zero.  I’m not sure whether postal worker Ed or Helen or Ron got third degree paper cuts or was mauled by a dog (!!!), but hopefully he or she is recovering.

4.  MRI Results

Cee had her annual MRI, and the results were meh.  But we’ll keep waiting and watching.  Obviously she’s not concerned, all cuddled up with some FoxTrot.

5.  A Climb-y Guy

David’s parents gifted the kids this climber for Christmas.  The weather has cooperated so they’ve been able to use it this fall.  Here they are using sheets and clothespins to make a fort.  Definitely recommend for anyone looking for “family gift” ideas.

6.   Advent Plans

Do you have your Advent plans ready?  Yes?  I’d love to hear your favorite traditions.  No?  Here’s a peek at ours.

7.  My Sunday Story

The My Sunday Best linkup isn’t active anymore, and I’ve realized how much I miss sharing about Sundays.  Pictures of myself were my least favorite part.  Ugh.  But the Mass stories– those are golden.

Last week in the middle of Mass Moe had something very pressing to share about the stained glass window behind us.  He got my attention and made me turn around to see what he was seeing.  Then he pointed, “That window looks like a mouth vomiting into a bowl.”  Nice.  He was so pleased and amused.  Thanks for those uplifting words, Buddy.  .

Beatrice keeps quiet at Mass by occasionally chewing on my silicone necklace.  (I’ve polled several people on what the cut off age is for chewing on a necklace to be appropriate.  The answers were all dodgy in a way that means, “We think your kids are already past that point.”)  I don’t have the one pictured, but I do like the flower accent.  I guess I don’t mind if she chews on it if that means she’s quiet.  When does chewing on someone else’s necklace become inappropriate?  Maybe I don’t want to know.

Whew.  It’s been a week.  Hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving!  Check out Kelly’s Gift Guide for Special Needs Kids.

    Coming from a Postmaster —
    1. You cannot mail a human being. You can mail live animals to an extent such as poultry, baby chicks, baby ducks, and worms are all allowed.
    2. It would depend on how far it is being mailed- give me a zip code 🙂
    3. The baby chicks and ducks that come in the spring are the coolest ones to see come through the mail. When the bait shop was in RR, they’d get very large boxes full of wax worms and nigh crawlers.

Soooooo many good answers! Thank you! I will pass on the answers. And as far as zip codes, what about mailing a 50 lb package to 59758? (That’s West Yellowstone, MT.)

      Thanks!

Whoa! What goes on in that post office? Zero days since last accident!?

My 4 1/2 year old still chews on necklaces, so I take them off and just let her wear them…
