Life in the Time of Corona (2)

Natalie M. was the winner of the Let’s Go Geography subscription. Happy couch traveling!

Not linking up with Kelly for Friday’s Seven Quick Takes because #it’smonday. Days of the week are so 2019 anyway.

  1. We’re running low on sidewalk chalk, tape (blue, clear, and duct), and markers, but otherwise feeling so blessed to be safe at home. How are you doing?
  2. We’re all living our best lives in pajamas all day, every day. Except for Bea. She splits her time between pjs and church dresses. Whatever gets you through the quarantine, Bea.
  3. We wanted to get Pio’s 3-month pictures taken, but the JCPenney Studio we usually use is…closed. Like every other photographer these days. So we tried to get our own pictures.

We couldn’t get him to look at the camera…always off to the side. But you can see his dimple, so I’d count it as a success!

These were the two best shots of Mateo for his two-year (!!) pictures.

And here are the highlights of Moe’s 7-year pictures:

4. Speaking of Moe, he made a legit bow and arrow out of a plastic clothes hanger, some rubber bands, and a pencil. Then we immediately took it away because it was like, way too dangerous for a kid toy. Seeing his disappointment, we conceded that he could play with it outside. So if you happen to be walking by, you might want to go with a 15 foot social distance instead of the regular 6 feet. Ka pow!

5. After an exhausting week+ of trying to take advantage of every free online resource that popped up, we’ve gone back to our regular routine. Everyone is happier. All the cool stuff involved screens, and it was just too much. We just aren’t busy-busy kind of people.

6. I want to do something to remember life during this Major Historical Event we’re living in, but I’m bad at journaling. Anyone have a good resource? Some guided questions? A printable something?

7. We took a Sunday drive around a neighboring town as a family. So many people were outside! We did a lot of waving and got very excited about interesting things we saw (like dogs or houses with spring-y decorations). Then we took a walk as a family.

Crippling worries about the future, health, and finances aside, having David home more has been the best. Sure, there have been some growing pains as figured out life, but we’ve had more time as a couple and as a family than ever. I only hope that through all the suffering happening that other families are experiencing this fruit as well.

Stay safe!
