House-less

Our house is sold. Here’s a picture of one of our last meals in the old house. We called it “floor soup.”

We haven’t found a new place. We’re currently staying in my parents’ basement.

Humor is my go-to for dealing with things, so I’ve been joking about becoming homeless or being homeless for weeks now.

Except I realized that that’s not fair to people who are actually, really, truly homeless. We may be house-less, but we aren’t homeless. We have a handful of places that we can stay, we just don’t have anything permanent figured out. So now I’ll declare us “house-less” instead.

Every spare moment of the last month or so was spent strategically sorting and packing everything we own. Now that we’re house-less, I should have more spare time. But somehow being house-less is a vortex, and all the spare time I should have now is spent just trying to be alive. Or trying not to be an overwhelmingly irritating tenant.

We’ve continued to scour the listings and tour houses in person. A few have been disappointing because of wet basements. As someone with a basement as a primary residence, this is a deal-breaker. Some have required more work than we’re able to do. We did make an offer on one house, but the homeowners accepted another offer.

We hope to visit a few more houses on Wednesday, so it’s our prayer that the right thing comes up then or at least sooner rather than later. We’ll see.

Still hoping and praying you’ll find a house soon! (On another note altogether… are you still an Usborne consultant?)

Thank you! And about the Usborne– no…I didn’t want to have to pay the monthly fee to keep active since I wasn’t actually trying to sell and host parties. But we still love some of their books!
