Sweet Potato Sogs

Cee went to church dressed like a gypsy yesterday.  With all the changes she’s having to put up with, I didn’t push it.

My sister picked up a bunch of dresses at a garage sale.  Most of them are everyday play dresses.  Cee chose one to wear for church.  It was  floor-length, spaghetti strapped, and as colorful as a box of crayons.  We put a shirt on under it to make it a little more church appropriate.  Cee wanted to accessorize with a wide periwinkle headband from a Cinderella costume and green mardi gras beads.  The headband didn’t look so bad, but Cee insisted on wearing it low on her forehead, more like a sweatband than a head band.  Whatever.

Foodwise, it hasn’t been so terrible so far.  We’ve eaten eggs and vegetable soup a lot.  That’s not a change.  We’ve also grilled some steaks.  So what we are eating isn’t that unusual.

We’ve had sweet potato fries twice.  Well–they actually were more like sweet potato sogs.  I peeled and chopped the sweet potatoes.  Then I tossed them in some olive oil, garlic, paprika, and salt.  Then I baked them for the recommended time and temp.  For round two I increased the temperature to decrease the sogginess, but it didn’t seem to help.  They tasted fine, but the texture left much to be desired.

The worst part is the medicine.  Cee had been taking it with Hershey’s syrup and chasing it with some Juicy Fruit gum.  Both are off limits.  Cee cannot have any sweeteners, natural or artificial.  So we’re back to the medicine battles we used to have.

It’s only day three of our big life switcheroo.  It’s probably going to be weeks before we see any results.  Cee’s body has a lot of healing to do.

(***Update from 2016:  We eventually figured out how to make actually appetizing sweet potato fries.  Don’t crowd the pan!)
