Treasures From Our Checkout Pile

Cee’s pain has been all over the map this past week or so, and our library finds fill in the gaps to keep us entertained and still learning.

Have you seen these Scholastic DVDs?  Our library has many of them.  They take books, add in the slightest bit of animation, and add narration.  There is the option of having the stories play with or without the words on the screen for kids to read along.

My kids love being able to check out a “movie” from the library.  Tee hee– they don’t realize that the “movies” are actually just more picture books!

There are usually between 3-6 books on each DVD.

Our library has an online partner, hoopla, which offers audiobooks, e-books, and videos for free!  You don’t even need to leave your house to check them out, and there are no late fees.  If you haven’t asked your library for their partner companies, it’s worth looking into.

I’m listening to Simplicity Parenting as an audio book.  If someone asked me to recommend one parenting book to a new parent, this would be it.

Do you have any library treasures to share?  I’m always working on putting a batch on hold for next week! ?

I loved Simplicity Parenting! We also love the Scholastic video picture books. Some of the individual stories are actually on Hoopla, which has been nice on days when we just really need a video.

Scholastic picture book dvds are the best! The library we go to has Hoopla but we technically aren’t a member there and our home library doesn’t have it. 🙁 Maybe I’ll ask if we ever get there.

Ooooh thanks for the suggestions! These all look so great! I don’t know why I never thought about an audio book for ME! I always get them for the kids. My turn!

Audiobooks are the only way I’ve been able to get any “reading” done. 🙂

It is! I saw it on someone else’s book list first. 🙂
