Getting Worse

,

I believe this all started on Monday…so tomorrow marks a week of the flare up.  I don’t know how long they typically last.  As far as the bigger picture, this all started on January 20th.  So this weekend marks five months.  Five months.

Cee’s pain level is increasing.  Although there are some brief times where she’s happy to color or play outside, the majority of our last few days involved her being either on the edge of or in the midst of a breakdown.  Nights haven’t been much better.

She’s consistently complaining of a headache, which hasn’t been true before.  David and I are troubled by this.  The rheumatologist mentioned that illness can cause a flare up; I wonder if she’s got some sort of bug.  Weather can have an impact, too.  We have had a few storms lately; maybe that’s it.  Oddly enough, her rash seems to have improved.

Thank goodness we’ve switched what we’re eating.  At least this way the few bites that Cee got today are nutrient dense.  Eggs, garbanzo beans, peanuts, fish, sweet potato sogs, and a cookie** made up her food intake today.  A few months ago we were offering anything we could to get her to eat, just to get calories in her.

The homily this weekend was about keeping our eyes on heaven and how that will make our crosses easier to bear.  I know that’s the only thing that’s going to help us keep our chill.  Cee can’t ask for a glass of water without coming unglued.  Lord, give us strength.  David and I are exhausted both emotionally and physically.

Moe is so wonderful.  He is quick to smile and easy to laugh.  I’ve said to many people that God knew we needed a low-maintenance baby.  His skin is so soft, his eyes so bright, and his cuddles so soothing.  We are proof that even in less than ideal circumstances, babies are blessings, not burdens.  And our firecracker Elle is so sweet when she’s not orchestrating disasters.  Moe and Elle keep us going.

We are grateful for the prayers of our friends and family.  It seems almost selfish to keep asking for them, though.  There are many much more serious and important issues in our world today.  But we are very appreciative for any prayers you offer on our behalf!

I realized something just now, though.  We can be “offering up” our suffering for any problems you may be going through.  For more information, here’s a good article.   Feel free to pass along any issues that you may need prayer for.  We’d be happy to pray for you!  We don’t want this suffering to go to waste…

** The ingredients for the “cookies” were zucchini, almond flour, pumpkin, canola oil, eggs, salt, and baking powder.  If we’re being honest, the only thing “cookie” about them was the shape.
