Diligence

, ,

Moe has been diagnosed with hand, foot, and mouth disease.

It’s a viral, common, childhood illness, and there’s not anything we can do but ride out the next week or so. “Diligent handwashing” is the only recommendation.  Though I’m not sure that my hands, dry and chapped from the perpetual washing, will make any difference.  As I went to bed last night, I checked in on the kids.  There was Moe’s bed, empty.  His head was a couple inches from Cee on her pillow, cuddled up and sleeping soundly, breathing directly onto her face.  My struggle to keep Moe isolated all day was for nothing.

So, unable to depend on diligent handwashing, we ask for prayers.

I know this is an old post, but I just noticed it in your archives and clicked on it since we’ve got hand, foot, and mouth right now. When I took my son to Urgent Care and he was diagnosed with HFM, the doctor told me pragmatically, “All your kids are going to get it. Just clear your calendar.” There’s something nice about just knowing ahead of time, we’re going to hunker down and wait for the pustules . . .

Ugh. Sorry to hear you’re dealing with HFM! I feel like there’s some sort of country song in there, “…just hunker down, and wait for the pustules. Ain’t nothin’ more happenin’ ’round here…”
